North Dakota bill would prevent World Health Organization from directing local pandemic response

(Fargo, ND) -- North Dakota State Representative Jeff Hoverson is pushing a bill aimed at preventing the World Health Organization from determining local policies related to pandemics.

"The WHO, in conjunction with other international organizations, I might add, are unelected bureaucrats. None of us in North Dakota ever saw these names on the ballot when we voted," said Hoverson.

Hoverson is talking about HB 111, which has already passed the house. The bill would exempt North Dakotans from being legally bound to follow any international health regulation.

Hoverson says the bill is a response to recent reports the Biden Administration is considering entering an agreement that would allow the WHO to direct local pandemic response.
