Essentia chief medical officer seeing "a lot of stress on our health system" in urban and rural areas

(Fargo, ND) -- The chief medical officer at Essentia Health in Fargo was asked, "do we have a healthcare crisis here?"

"Yes I think you know, post pandemic we are seeing a lot of stress on our health system in some of our urban areas, but certainly in our rural areas as well. You know rural areas have you know, unique challenges. Workforce challenges are even exacerbated," said Dr. Richard Vetter.

Vetter also says reimbursement rates are an issue, and says other challenges in rural environments include access to behavioral health and mental health services.
