(Fargo, ND) — Officers with the West Fargo Police Department tried to stop a driver in a vehicle for a traffic violation in the 300 block of 4th Avenue E at 2:54 a.m Thursday morning.
The driver continued to travel southbound and then turned westbound on 7th Avenue E, with officers in pursuit.
They eventually entered Sheyenne Street northbound and executed a successful pursuit intervention technique (PIT) in the 200 block of Sheyenne Street.
Police say the suspect vehicle came to a stop and intentionally struck a patrol vehicle, directed at the driver’s side door.
The officers instructed the suspect to exit the vehicle, which he complied with, and no one was injured.
33-year-old David Bradley Baker from Gardendale, Alabama, was arrested and charged with felony fleeing in a motor vehicle, possession of methamphetamine, possession of
methamphetamine paraphernalia, an outstanding felony warrant, attempted assault on a peace officer, driving under the influence, and driving under suspension.
The West Fargo Police Department recently conducted PIT maneuver training as another tool to safely end pursuits to protect the greater community.
A PIT is a controlled maneuver that is a safe and effective way to end pursuits when the suspect vehicle is fleeing law enforcement.
