Fargo City Commission Candidate highlights policy positions, need for “common sense” and more

(Fargo, ND) — A longtime-resident and familiar face is running to become a Fargo City Commissioner.

Former KXJB and KVLY news anchor Michelle Turnberg spoke about her candidacy on The Flag’s What’s on your mind. Turnberg says she wants to bring “Common sense” to the commission. She also highlighted the need to reduce property taxes and spending.

“I’ve always been interested in going back to journalism; always been interested in what’s going on in the city, on local governance, who’s running what […]” said Turnberg in an interview with The Flag’s Scott Hennen. “I love the area and want to make sure that we continue to have the wonderful city that we do.”

Turnberg says she also wants to work on solving homelessness in downtown Fargo. One of her motivations is to protect residents during “sketchy” times, but also to protect the investments made in the area. She also highlighted the need to utilize existing mental health and addiction services to address homelessness.
