Valley City man injured in rural Barnes County motorcycle accident

(Barnes County, ND) – A 45-year-old Valley City man was injured when he lost control of his motorcycle and ran off Barnes County Road 21 Sunday evening.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol said the accident happened at 5:30 p.m. Sunday on Barnes County Road 21 and 30th Street SE, two miles north of Valley City.

The driver was southbound on County Road 21, driving towards Valley City, when he lost control of his 1980 Harley Davidson motorcycle, ran off the road and came to rest in the west ditch.

He was not wearing a helmet and sustained serious, life-threatening injuries.

Barnes County Ambulance treated him on scene before transporting him to a Valley City hospital, before being flown by Sanford AirMed to Sanford Hospital in Fargo.

The male remains in the care of Sanford, and no information relating to his condition is available as of the time of this report. He was arrested for Driving Under the Influence.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
