(Detroit, MI) -- General Motors is looking to increase production of its transmissions.
The automaker said Thursday that it will invest 100-million-dollars between two plants, one in Michigan and one in Indiana, to make more 10-speed automatic transmissions that are typically found in Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks.
The move comes after the company said they're seeing high demand for those vehicles.
Recently, a world-wide semi-conductor chip shortage forced three GM plants to temporarily close.
