Pelosi Appoints First African American As House Sergeant-At-Arms

(Washington, DC) -- DC National Guard Major General William Walker is the newest Sergeant-At-Arms for the House and Senate.  

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi appointed Walker to the post as the first African American to hold the position.

She called him a leader of great integrity and experience. 

The position has a wide range of responsibilities, including overseeing Capitol security.
