CA Gov Seeking to End Fracking

(Sacramento, CA) -- California Governor Gavin Newsom is looking to end new permits for hydraulic fracking.

Friday, he directed the geologic office to initiate regulatory action to do so by January 2024. Once in place, California would be the largest oil-producing state to ban fracking -- the process of extracting oil embedded in rock deep underground.

Newsom also requested that the California Air Resources Board look at ways to phase out oil extraction across the state by 2045.
