(Los Angeles, CA) -- The old saying "It never rains in Southern California" couldn't be further from the truth as the first major rainstorm of the season is expected to roll through Monday.
The action started Sunday in the northern part of the state as a storm system known as a bomb cyclone blew through, forcing evacuations in areas scorched by wildfires. The National Weather Service warned it was too late for others to leave, telling them to get to the highest part of their home.
One town in the San Francisco Bay Area got hit with 12 inches of rain. Sacramento is seeing historic numbers as well, canceling a triathlon and music festival.
Washington and Oregon are also drenched, with power outages in all three states and two deaths in Seattle.
