(Taiwan) -- China is reacting to six lawmakers arriving in Taiwan.

It conducted military drills Friday around the island after warning against a U.S. visit. Five senators and a congressman met with Taiwan's president Friday morning and will be getting on a plane soon to head home. They refer to the region as a country, saying it's of global significance.

China insists Taiwan is a breakaway province and feels the message sends what it calls "wrong signals."
