A New York state judge has officially denied former President Trump's request to lift a $10,000-a-day fine for failing to turn over documents subpoenaed by the state's Attorney General.

A statement made by the judge states Trump's failed to provide "any useful detail" as to why the fine should be lifted.

"Notably, it fails to state where he kept his files, how his files were stores in a regular course of business, who had access to such files, what, if any, the retention policy was for such files, and importantly, where he believes such files are currently located," wrote Justice Arthur Engoron in a statement, "This court finds that Mr. Trump has not yet purged his contempt."

The judge asked the former president to answer all questions listed in the response "in order to purge his contempt."
