(Vanderburgh, IN) -- An escaped Alabama murder suspect and corrections officer planned to open fire on law enforcement when stopped by authorities.

The claim comes from Vanderburgh County Sheriff Dave Wedding, who says Casey White admitted their plan to shoot police. The two were arrested in Evansville, Indiana, where an AR-15 rifle and four handguns were found within the vehicle Casey White and Vicky White were driving.

Officials say the corrections officer died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Casey was taken into custody.
