(Burbank, CA) -- Disney is delaying moving thousands of jobs to Florida until 2026.

The company had planned to move about two-thousand jobs from its theme parks division from California to Florida by early next year. Disney says the delay is to provide flexibility for employees since the new Orlando area campus won't be completed until 2026.

The decision comes a few months after the media giant found itself in a battle with Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. State lawmakers voted to end Disney's special self-governing district after it spoke out against Florida's Parental Rights in Education bill.
