(Austin, TX) -- Former Tesla employees are suing the electric automaker, arguing that a mass layoff without advance notice violated federal law.

The suit was filed Sunday in Texas by workers who said they were among 500 let go at Tesla's gigafactory plant in Nevada in May and June. They argue the law requires 60-days notice and that Tesla told employees the firings were effective immediately.

CEO Elon Musk called the lawsuit trivial and without standing.
