(Washington, DC) -- President Biden is expected to call on Congress Wednesday to suspend the federal gas tax for three months.

A senior administration official told reporters that a gas tax suspension "will provide families a little breathing room." If Congress approves, the suspension would lift the 18-cent tax per-gallon on gasoline during the summer months, as well as the 24-cent tax per-gallon on diesel.

Biden will  lay out the proposal in a speech from the White House Wednesday afternoon.
