(Washington, DC) -- Ketanji Brown Jackson was sworn in Thursday as the newest member of the Supreme Court and the first Black woman to serve on the nation's highest court.
Cases she and the eight other justices will hear beginning in October include one on race-based admissions at Harvard University. The court will also hear from an Idaho couple who believes they should have the right to build a house on property that federal regulators say is protected wetlands.
The case could clear the way for developers to build on protected lands without first applying for federal permits.
