(Washington, DC) -- A new analysis shows mass shootings in the U.S. are becoming more common and more deadly.
A report in The Guardian says the U.S. has seen more mass shootings in the past five years than in any comparable time span, dating back to 1966. Between 2017 and 2021 there were 31 mass shootings in the U.S, compared to 24 in the previous five years.
The report says mass shooters killed nearly 300 people from 2017 to 2021, up nearly a third from the previous five years. It also says that assault-style weapons were used in nearly half of the mass shootings since 2017.
