(Bend, OR) -- Three people are dead, including the suspected shooter, after an attack at a supermarket in central Oregon.

Police say they responded to reports of an active shooter Sunday night at a shopping center in the town of Bend -- three hours southeast of Portland.

The man yet to be identified reportedly entered a Safeway and shot one person at the entrance, then moved into the store and shot and killed a second victim. Officers responded around 7 p.m. local time and entered immediately while still hearing shots. They found the apparent shooter dead inside with a rifle and a shotgun close by.

Officials say the investigation is still very active.
