(Washington, DC) -- Attorney General Merrick Garland is putting new restrictions on political appointees at the Justice Department.

Non-career employees at the DOJ will no longer be allowed to engage in "partisan political activities."

The changes come as the department faces accusations of political bias from supporters of former President Donald Trump and Republican lawmakers.

Non-career employees had been previously been able to attend political events if they got approval from their supervisor.
