(Washington, DC) -- The August jobs report says the U.S. added 315-thousand jobs last month.

The Labor Department says economists surveyed by Bloomberg were forecasting a gain of 300-thousand nonfarm payrolls.

So far this year, the U.S. labor market has averaged more 450-thousand monthly payroll gains.

In the meantime,  a new report says the U.S. unemployment rate rose three-point-seven percent in the month of August.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics says that's the highest since February and above market expectations of three-point-five percent.

The report says the number of unemployed people in the U.S. increased by 344-thousand.
