(Atlanta, GA) -- The CDC is warning healthcare providers and public health authorities about a recent rise in invasive strep A infections in children.

The agency issued a health advisory this past week on the infection.

The CDC said places where there have been increases in RSV, flu, COVID-19, and other respiratory viruses have also seen an increase in strep A infections over the past two months.

Health officials say despite the increases, cases have remained low and invasive strep A is rare in children.
