Amazon to lay off 17,000 workers

(Seattle, WA) -- Amazon is planning on firing more than 17-thousand employees.

In November, the Seattle-based company began lay-offs but estimated they would only need to cut about ten-thousand employees.

The lay-offs are concentrated in the company's corporate ranks and retail operations.

This is the largest workforce reduction in a major tech company ever reported.
