(Rome) -- Italian authorities are accusing action movie director Michael Bay of killing a pigeon.

The bird was reportedly killed on the set of Bay's 2018 Netflix movie "6 Underground," which was shot in Italy, where pigeons are a protected species.

A report in "TheWrap" says the bird was killed by a camera dolly and reported by someone who took a picture of the dead animal and gave it to police, who are now pressing charges against Bay.

The director denies the allegations and told TheWrap on Thursday that he is a "major animal activist," and "will prevail when I have my day in court."
