White House slams "Extreme MAGA" committee appointments

(Washington, DC)  --  The White House is condemning the appointment of "extreme MAGA" Republicans to prominent committees in the House.  Representatives Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia and Paul Gosar of Arizona were placed on the Oversight Committee after being stripped of committee seats in the last Congress for making controversial comments, including violent rhetoric toward other lawmakers.  White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre accused Republican leadership of "handing the keys of oversight" to extremists.  She emphasized, however, that President Biden stands ready to work in good faith to pass bipartisan legislation.  House Republicans are expected to aggressively use their oversight powers to investigate the President.
