(San Francisco, CA) -- Advertising on Twitter dropped by over 70 percent in December.

A new report from Standard Media Index also showed that ad spending in November was down over 50 percent from the previous year, following Twitter's takeover by Tesla and SpaceX boss Elon Musk.

Twitter has not commented on the report.

In November, Musk blamed activist groups for the drop in spending, and accused them of pressuring advertisers to pull their ads.
