(Washington, DC) -- The Biden Administration is urging states to join a federal crackdown on "junk fees."

The White House will host a virtual meeting Wednesday with hundreds of state lawmakers about reducing the so-called "junk fees" that are tacked onto everything from credit cards to phone bills to airline tickets and more.

The administration will also release a new guide offering actions that states can take.

In a released statement, the White House said actions taken by state governments will be "essential" to rid the U.S. economy of billions of dollars in "unnecessary" charges.
