(Santa Fe, NM) -- Actor Alec Baldwin says he wants his "day in court," to answer charges in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

She was fatally wounded when a prop gun Baldwin was holding fired a live round during filming of the movie Rust.

Baldwin is charged with involuntary manslaughter in the shooting that happened outside Santa Fe, New Mexico in October of 2021.

A New Mexico judge on Thursday announced a two-week evidentiary hearing in Santa Fe will begin in early May.

The hearing will give prosecutors an opportunity to show there's enough evidence to try Baldwin and the movie's armorer, who was responsible for guns used in filming.
