(Detroit, MI) -- A federal judge is granting class action status to a lawsuit accusing General Motors of knowingly selling cars with faulty transmissions.

There are 39 plaintiffs in 26 states who have sued GM.

U.S. District Judge for the Eastern District of Michigan David Lawson granted the class certification on Monday.

The lawsuit claims GM vehicles with eight-speed automatic transmissions made between 2015 and 2019 lurch and shutter when driving.
