(Olympia, WA) -- Two K9s in Washington helped police find fentanyl smuggled inside chess pieces at a county jail.

An investigation was prompted at Thurston County facility after six inmates overdosed on fentanyl earlier this month.

County sheriffs say the contraband was hidden inside plastic chess pieces and was likely the source of the ODs.

Two people died in the incident.
