(Gaza)  --  The United Nations Security Council is set to meet today following a deadly Israeli military strike in the southern Gazan city of Rafah.

The weekend strike hit a camp housing those displaced due to the fighting in the region. Reports are that more than 40 people were killed. Israeli officials say the target was a Hamas compound and that two of the militant group's senior officials were killed.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the loss of civilian lives in the airstrike a "tragic mishap."
