NEW SALEM, ND — A suspect is dead after an officer involved shooting near New Salem, North Dakota.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol says it happened before 1 this morning after an attempted traffic stop turned into a vehicle pursuit along the Bismarck Expressway. The suspect ran over spike strips and stopped on I-94 near New Salem, firing at officers who were approaching. Two troopers and a Morton County Deputy returned gunfire, fatally striking the suspect. A vehicle passenger was not injured.
Law enforcement involved in the shooting are currently on administrative leave pending the results of an investigation.
