ND Bill Restricts 'Service Animal' Designation To Dogs In Line With Federal Standard

(Bismarck, ND)  --  North Dakota could be the next state to redefine what creatures can qualify as "service animals."  Last week, state lawmakers passed a measure that would restrict the designation to trained dogs.  Among the more specific details of the State House bill is language specifically removing miniature horses from the list of qualifying animals.  Legislators say the change in qualifying animals is to keep the state in line with new Americans with Disabilities Act standards.
