Mandan Police Officers Hope To Get Body Cameras

(Mandan, ND) -- Mandan Police officers are hoping to get body cameras.

At Tuesday's city commission meeting officials told the department they can take the next steps toward getting them, which is applying for the Department of Justice's Body-Worn Camera Policy and Implementation Program. Officers say this move would add another safety protection to operations.

It will be expensive to outfit officers with the cameras. There's 27-point-five-million dollars in federal funding available to departments for cameras and awards will be given this fall.
