(Bismarck, ND) -- Over 500 submissions to the Governor's Photo Contest are narrowed down to the winners.  

Governor Doug Burgum announced the grand prize winner, five category winners, and 12 honorable mentions Wednesday. The photos showcase North Dakota's scenery and will be used by the tourism department and Triple-A in the upcoming year.  

The best in show photo was submitted by Tim Samuelson from Fargo and captures two prairie dogs embracing.  

Winners were also declared in the categories of recreation, road trips, Badlands scenery, Beyond the Badlands scenery, and Wildlife.
