Minnesota Nursing Homes Going Through Shortage

(St. Paul, MN) -- Minnesota nursing homes are experiencing record staffing shortages.

The Long-Term Care Imperative surveyed 300 care providers across the state and found around 23-thousand vacant jobs.

Last March, there were reportedly around eight-thousand. Many worried that COVID-19 vaccine mandates would worsen the shortage of workers, but industry leaders say this goes beyond mandates. They added that workers are burnt out from the pandemic as they were working 100-hour workweeks, double shifts in full PPE during a really hot summer.
