Minnesota Supreme Court Rules Workers' Comp Doesn't Cover Medical Marijuana

(St. Paul, MN) -- The Minnesota Supreme Court is ruling that workers' compensation does not cover medical marijuana.

The court ruled Wednesday saying employers are blocked from being required to pay for medical cannabis as it remains illegal under federal law.

Associate Justice Margaret Chutich disagreed with the ruling, saying this decision frustrates the Legislature's goal with workers compensation for delivering medical benefits to injured workers at a reasonable cost to employers.
