(Bismarck, ND) -- The Rail Passengers Association is assessing the economic impact of bringing back Amtrak passenger rail to North Dakota.
The RPA study reports that restoring a North Dakota route would mean about 426-thousand people would ride the train annually. Their study showed the proposed route would include the southern part of Montana through North Dakota with a possible stop in Mandan or Bismarck.
RPA says the route could generate 271-million dollars in economic benefits to the seven states it would cover.
