(Minneapolis, MN) -- Employees at the University of Minnesota are now required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination.

Over the weekend, President Joan Gabel sent a message announcing that the university will now be collecting proof of vaccination from its employees. The new rule stems from President Joe Biden's recent executive order which requires federal contractors and subcontractors to provide proof that employees have been vaccinated no later than December 8th.

Before this, U of M mandated vaccines for students. Additionally, faculty and staff only had to certify that they were abiding by the university's COVID-19 protocols.
