(Bismarck, ND) -- The North Dakota State Penitentiary is reporting that over 80 percent of the inmate population is vaccinated against COVID-19.

Incoming inmates in local jails are given the choice of quarantine or vaccination before some prepare to move on to the penitentiary. The penitentiary remains closed to new inmates because of a recent COVID outbreak.

Those at the penitentiary who get the vaccine are given a 20-dollar commissary credit that doesn't come from taxpayer money.
