(Bismarck, ND) -- The North Dakota Game and Fish Department says mule deer production is down this year and bucks are showing nutritional distress.
A fall survey counted over 21-hundred deer in October, down from the spring survey in April. The ratio of fawns to does is down significantly at only 60 fawns per 100 does.
Nutritional stress brought on by the drought is apparent with considerably more spiked yearling bucks rather than forked bucks.
