(Bismarck, ND) -- Bismarck Police say a state official was taken to jail to detox after an incident at a hotel.

Police say North Dakota Tax Commissioner Ryan Rauschenberger tried to check into a hotel Monday morning and was turned away before later being found locked in a room that was being cleaned. Management and police entered the room and found him intoxicated enough that he couldn't care for himself. He was taken to the Burleigh Morton Detention Center after being cleared by the hospital to detox because he didn't have a safe ride home.

At this time, no charges are pending.
