(Bismarck, ND) -- The North Dakota National Guard is preparing for possible emergencies in winter weather.
A group of around 30 guard soldiers and airmen gathered Saturday to run a simulation at Fraine Barracks and address a scenario where a van carrying students and faculty went into a ditch during extreme weather conditions, stranding the riders.
As part of the simulation, one group sent scenarios to the operations center. Deputy director of domestic operations Matt Carman says the exercise is part of training that translates well to real emergencies.
