Flu vaccination rates for children lowering across North Dakota

(Fargo, ND) -- The flu vaccine isn't getting to as many kids in North Dakota.

The information comes from Kelsey Nefzger, Essentia Health's Immunization Program Director. She says pediatric patients are getting less shots into arms.

"Comparing numbers from last year to this year, we are almost three-months into the flu season for this year and we have seen a slight decrease in the number of Influenza vaccinations throughout the state of North Dakota," said Nefzger," At Essentia, we have seen a slight decrease as well."

Nefzger adds that now is the time to talk about increasing flu vaccination rates, as we have plenty of time to bump up the number of shots given to children across the state. She says you don't need an appointment to get your child's flu vaccines, but can schedule one on your MyChart app or call 701-364-8900.
