(Bismarck, ND) -- Bismarck Public Schools issued a statement regarding a Tiktok trend calling for violence in schools across the country.

The trend, labeled as "American School Shooting Day" or simply as "December 17th", is asking members to stay home on the day. The social media posts suggest that shootings and bombings will take place in schools across the United States.

Bismark Public Schools (BPS) sent an email to parents, saying the threat did not originate within the school district. BPS says they believe the threat is not credible, but are in contact with the Bismarck Police Department.

BPS also encourages parents and guardians to talk with their children about safe social media habits.
