Hennepin County Sheriff not stepping down after drunk driving misdemeanor

(Hennepin County, MN) -- Hennepin County Sheriff David Hutchinson says he will not be resigning after pleading guilty to misdemeanor drunk driving. 

Hutchinson says he will remain as sheriff for the remaining two years of his term, saying he is sober now and has "a lot more to give." He adds that he understands what he did was inexcusable and understands the outrage against his sentencing. 

Hutchinson was arrested after a drunk driving crash on in December with a county-owned SUV. You can learn more about the incident here
