(St. Paul, MN) -- The seasonal flu is returning in Minnesota.

The flu was virtually nonexistent in the state a year ago, with travel restrictions and COVID-19 prevention measures helping to keep numbers down. Health officials say flu cases are popping up more often in the emergency room, though they are not yet overwhelming facilities.

Officials expect the number of flu cases to increase as people gather for holiday events.
