(Minneapolis, MN) -- You're going to need a vaccine card or a negative test if you want to eat out or grab a drink in Minneapolis or St. Paul.

The cities Wednesday said they are going to require proof of vaccination starting Tuesday. St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter says he wants to keep his city open, but says it must be done safely. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey says the proof of vaccination requirement will avoid simply closing down bars and restaurants.

The proof of vaccination is simple, it shows whether you've had the shot. If you're planning on showing a negative test, public health managers say it cannot be more than three days old.
