(Bismarck, ND) -- A new study says North Dakota is the happiest place in the nation to live.

The study by sleep experts at Amerisleep includes 17 factors, including mental health, income, sleep rates and environment. North Dakota scored highly thanks to its open space and beauty, as well as having the highest income growth rate compared to the previous year.

Rounding out the top five included Vermont, Nebraska, South Dakota and California. Kentucky was rated the least happy state.
