(Williston, ND) -- Farmers from North Dakota say they are "cautiously optimistic" about the 2022 season as drought conditions seem to be letting up.

Many North Dakota and Montana farmers gathered in Williston Wednesday for the 69th Annual National Hard Spring Wheat Show. Current climate outlooks for spring and summer are uncertain about whether drought conditions will worsen again, but North Dakota's state climatologist says the next growing season is likely to be not as bad as the same season in 2021.

Treasurer for the wheat show and a Montana farmer Brian Kate says farmers are "eternal optimists."
