(Bismarck, ND) -- Members of the North Dakota Army National Guard are headed to Alaska for cold weather training.

The two-week training is set to take place in Anchorage, where the highs will be about 50-degrees warmer than current North Dakota conditions with highs in the 40s. The exercise is intended to test the Guard's capacity to operate in the Arctic.

The team will work with federal and local agencies to respond to an earthquake scenario as well. The training is part of exercise Arctic Eagle-Patriot.
